Here’s some helpful information you’ll need to make your stay at Van Nuys Behavioral Health Hospital a better experience. To facilitate being admitted to the hospital, please call and speak to an intake representative at (800) 565-0558.

Pre-Admission Guidelines

The hospital provides several important recommendations for patients:

  • Avoid wearing jewelry; remove all body piercings beforehand
  • Leave valuables and money at home
  • Do not bring laptops (hospital not responsible for lost or stolen phones)
  • Bring a complete list of medications and allergies
  • Hospital provides personal hygiene items

Advance Directive

An Advance Directive is a written statement of a person’s wishes regarding medical treatment. Its purpose is to ensure those wishes are carried out should a patient be unable to communicate them to a healthcare provider.

  • Typically includes both Declaration and Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare
  • Having both documents provides the strongest legal enforcement

Social Workers

Our social workers serve as patient advocates and advisors. Their functions include:

  • Acting as patient advocates and advisors
  • Assisting patients and answering family questions
  • Managing crises and directing patients to appropriate resources
  • Advising caregivers and counseling patients
  • Planning post-discharge care and arranging aftercare services
